Use Stock Charts to gain perspective on market movement.

This section of the User's Guide will show you how to use StockMarketEye's Stock Charts.


Viewing the Charts

To view a stock chart, simply click on one of the stock in your Watchlists or Portfolios.

StockMarketEye loads the stock's historical price data from the internet. While it is doing this, a small progress indicator is show in the bottom right corner of the StockMarketEye window.

When the data has been loaded, the chart is displayed in the chart area of the StockMarketEye window.

Resizing the Chart

You can give as much or as little space to the chart as you want. Simply click-and-drag on the space between the bottom of the Watchlist/Portfolio and the top of the chart area (just above the range selector, for example).

Hiding the Chart

You can completely hide the chart by clicking on the blue, down-arrow on the right-hand side of the chart.

You can unhide the chart by clicking on the "Show Chart" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the StockMarketEye window.

Working with Charts

Chart Types

StockMarketEye provides 4 types of stock charts: Line Charts, Mountain Charts, Candlestick Charts and OHLC Charts. You can select the type of chart you want to use from the Chart Options -> Chart Style menu.

Chart Ranges

StockMarketEye provides pre-defined date ranges for your stock charts. You can select a different range from the chart range toolbar on the upper left side of the chart area.

You can also zoom-in on a specific portion of the chart by clicking and dragging (left to right) over the portion of the chart you are interested in. To zoom-out again, either select a new chart range from the toolbar or click and drag back (right to left) over the chart.

Chart Cursor

When you move the mouse over the chart, you will see a vertical line in the chart that follows the movement of the mouse. This is the chart cursor. When the cursor is displayed, the date and historical price at the location of the cursor are displayed just above the top right edge of the chart.

You can turn off the chart cursor by selecting Show Chart Cursor from the "Chart Options" menu.

Saving a Chart as an Image

StockMarketEye allows you to save a chart as an image so it can be viewed later. This is useful if you want to view the chart off-line or send to a friend via email.

To save the chart as an image, click on the computer disket icon just to the right of the Chart Options menu. You will be presented with a window where you can choose the name and location of the image you want to create.

The size of the image will be exactly the same size as the chart in the StockMarketEye window. If you want a larger or smaller image, simply resize the chart area or the StockMarketEye window.
