StockMarketEye v2.9.4 Released

Posted on Saturday, Feb. 18th 2012

We are proud to announce the release of StockMarketEye v2.9.4 for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

This release adds a number of usability improvements, including keyboard shortcuts and calendar date stickyness, as well as a number of bug fixes.

Below is a complete list of the additions and changes in this version of StockMarketEye.

What’s New In StockMarketEye v2.9.4

Changes

  • Added keyboard shortcuts for the most commonly used actions in Portfolios and Watchlists, including shortcuts for recording dividends and cash transactions. You can see which shortcuts are available by opening the Portfolios and Watchlists menus. The shortcut key combination is shown at the right of menu item.
  • The calendar is now “sticky”. This means that when you enter dates, that date is remembered so that the next time you open the window, the date in the calendar will be the same as the last time you set it. This is practical if you are entering a number of items in sequence and should save time having to move back in the calendar every time. Note that the stickyness is lost when you exit and will be reset to the current date the next time you open.
  • The “Gain Converted” column in Portfolios now takes into account the difference in exchange rate between the time of purchase and the current exchange rate. This allows you to see your true gain in that position (price change + exchange rate change). Note that you can adjust or set the purchase time exchange rate in the Transactions view (add the “Exch Rate” column and edit that cell).
  • Added a new column “Gain Converted %”, which is the percent change of this position based on the “Gain Converted” value.
  • Added a new column “Cost Basis Converted” for the displaying the cost basis of a position (purchase share price * number of shares + transaction costs) converted using the exchange rate from the time of purchase. Again, you can set the exchange rate from the time of puchase in the Transactions view, in the “Exch Rate” cell of the purchase transaciton.
  • The “Exch Rate” column’s value in Portfolios can be overriden and set to a specific value. This is done just like editing the “Last” column: select the item to change, then click in the “Exch Rate” cell of that line and enter the exchnage rate. When the value is overridden, a small asterisk will be visible in the cell. You can remove the override and get back to the downloaded, current exchange rate by editing the “Exch Rate” cell again, completely removing the value so that the field is empty, and press return.
  • The “Currency” column of aggregate portfolio items (items in your portfolio with multiple lots) can now be edited and the change propogated to all of the sub lots. Previously you could only edit the individual sub-lot’s currency.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue getting historical prices and charts for UK mutual funds. Charts are now available for UK mutual funds.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented printing of the Combined Portfolio’s views.
  • Fixed a number of issues with setting and using exchange rates in Portfolios and the Combined portfolio.
  • Fixed an issue running the QIF import tool

There is no charge for this upgrade so we highly recommend that all users (trial and licensed) upgrade to the newest version.
